A Complete Guide for Families in The Woodlands, Texas
by Bri Sullivan Photography – Family Photographer in The Woodlands, TX
Pets are family — and for many of my clients here in The Woodlands, Texas, their dogs (and even the occasional cat!) are a huge part of their story. So it’s completely natural to want to include them in your photo session.
The short answer?
Yes — you can absolutely bring your pet!
With a little planning, we can create beautiful, joyful portraits that include your furry friend in a stress-free way.
Below is everything you need to know before bringing your pet to your session at Bri Sullivan Photography.
🐾 Yes, Pets Are Welcome — With a Few Simple Requirements
I want your session to feel fun, calm, and safe for everyone. To make that happen, here’s what I ask:
Pets Must Be Well-Behaved and Comfortable in New Environments
Your pet should be friendly, calm, and able to follow basic commands.
If your dog gets extremely nervous, fearful, or overly excited in new places, we can still make it work — we may just need extra planning.
Dogs Must Stay on a Leash During Outdoor Sessions
Most of our outdoor locations in The Woodlands require pets to be leashed.
Even if they don’t, I still request it for:
- safety
- smoother posing
- easier transitions
We can hide the leash or remove it during editing when needed.
Pets Must Be Up to Date on All Vaccinations
This protects:
- your pet
- other people and families
If you’re bringing your pet to the studio, this step is especially important.
If You Want Photos With AND Without Your Pet… Bring a Helper!
This is one of the most important steps.
If you want:
- a few photos with your pet
and - the rest without them
…you must bring a friend, family member, or pet handler to supervise them.
They can take your dog for a walk, wait in the car (weather permitting), or simply entertain them while we continue with the session.
This keeps things smooth, safe, and relaxed — especially for families with young kids.
🧺 What to Bring When Including Pets in Your Session
Here’s a helpful checklist:
- water + travel bowl
- small treats
- waste bags
- lint roller
- favorite toy
- harness or collar + leash
- a calming tool (if needed), such as a quiet chew or comfort item
Little touches like these help sessions run smoothly!
🐾 Final Thoughts
Bringing your dog or pet to your photography session can be such a meaningful addition to your portraits — especially when we plan ahead. With a calm environment, gentle guidance, and the right preparation, your pet can shine right alongside your family.
If you’re planning a family session in The Woodlands, TX, and want to include your furry companion, I’d love to help make it a wonderful experience!
